When lgbt people bitch about corporations not doing enough pride promotions in countries where being lgbt is criminalized, I always wonder if they have spent a single minute thinking about what corporate pride promotions would mean for the lgbt people in those countries. Like do you think it’ll magically liberate everyone? Do you think it’ll spontaneously destroy the narrative that lgbt people are a western imperialist imposition? Do you think it’ll lend material support to lgbt organizations that originate in those countries?
Like what is the actual goal? Is there one? Is there any understanding of the role of corporations in neocolonialism and why putting rainbow flags on that could do more harm than good?
